The Cholas: Kingdom that had ruled south east asia

When we listen about medival india the only things that come to our mind is delhi sultanate and the Mughals. But we often ignores the some great kingdoms in indian peninsula. South India had been ruled by some great kingdoms in medival period I.e The   Chalukya (defeated Harsh Vardhan and stopped his southern expension, defeated Arabs and ended their probability of expension of Indian Empire), The Cholas , The Rashtrakhutas ,and The   Vijaynagar Empire . The Chola kingdom was founded by Vijaylay in 850 CE and ruled for about 400 years. By the end of 9th century Cholas had capturad Kanchi which was under pallavas and slowly expended their Empire. Rajraj(985-1014) and Rajendra 1st(1014-1044) where the two most famous Kinga of the dynesty. Rajraj Rajraj is considered as the first great ruler of the kingdom and United the entire Tamil region including the delta of Kavari into a powerful state. Aurangzeb, Temples and Jaziya

M ughals ruled India for about 3 centuries in which they were on peak of his power for about one and a half century. It was not easy to rule for such a long period outside one's home land without the support of majority of native population. As earlier we have seen the Delhi sultanate in which 5 dynasty had ruled a much smaller territory then on what Mughals had ruled on in the same span of time.  The destructive era of Mughals begins with Babur's arrival to middle of 1560s although some peace time comes under Sher Shah and Islam Shah but they never hesitated in using religion in the political affairs.  Temple demolishion policy After the abolition of jaziya by Akber hardly any decission were taken which affect the religious sentiments of other community. The peace period remains till Jahangir's rule but after his death Shahjahan reverse his ancestors policy and  ordered to demolish the newly built temples but after rise of his son Dara shikoh we hardly find any evidence ...

The Mughal battle of succession:1658

The story begins when Shahjahan fall ill in 1658,and chances of his revival had almost ended. Knowing his end closer he declared Dara(his elder and favourite son)as his successor and increased his mansab(rank) from 40000 jat to 60000 jat. Other sons of Shahjahan thaught that he become partial towards Dara and revolted against the emperor. Many maulana also supported the revolt as they saw Dara as a heretical they thought that their superiority might go under Dara. After knowing about the revolt Shahjahan had sent an army in East under Dara's elder son Suleman Shikoh against Suja and a compain against Aurangzeb under raja Jaswant Singh to Malwa (south). But there Jaswant met with a combine army of Aurangzeb and Murad. Jaswant can leave the battle and could move bace to Agra where he would get more support but as a rajpoot can't leave or move behind in a battlefield and hence fought bravely but got defeated at Dharmat and Aurangzeb moves towards Agra.
